LBC members love to serve and take very seriously their call to emulate their Savior, who Himself did not come to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28). The purpose of Community Development Ministry is threefold:
- Build and strengthen community within the walls of our church building through our Life Journey Group ministry and other Gospel-centered groups.
- Reach out to the community outside the walls of our church building through service projects and ongoing ministry initiatives.
- Undergird everything we do with prayer. This happens through scheduled prayer walks, member-led circles and gatherings, and maintaining a group or “prayer warriors” who are prepared to go before the throne of God as needs arise.
The finish line for which we strive with every move made in Community Development is that the good news of Jesus Christ be communicated and the name of Jehovah be glorified. Whether we are meeting physical needs in our neighborhoods, serving our schools, teaching out of LJG curriculum, or joining hands in prayer, the mission to which we are called remains the same: to love our God with all that we are and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40).
