Our Purpose

Prior to His ascension, our Lord Jesus Christ commanded His followers that they go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). The word, disciple, originates from a root verb meaning “to learn.” Our hope here at Lawndale Baptist Church is that each person grows closer to the Lord by learning more about Him and His Word to us, the Bible.

We strive to provide a number of Bible study forums to aid in the pursuit of learning to love God with all of one’s “mind” (Matthew 22:37). We believe that when followers of Christ hear and read the Word of God, they are strengthened in their faith, are convicted of their sin, and will grow more closely to the Lord, through surrender and obedience (Romans 10:17; Psalm 119:11; Colossians 3:16).

We invite you to experience one of our discipleship groups. Some of what we offer include:

  1. Life Journey Groups:  various Bible study groups that meet on Sunday mornings to study the Scriptures and experience life’s journey in community.
  2. LifePlus study groups that meet on Sunday nights in the spring and fall to discuss various topics, from a Biblical perspective, ranging from “The Meaning of Marriage” to “Financial Peace.”
  3. Seminars, Retreats, and Conferences:  a variety of thematic series that are offered several times during the year. Check our listing in “Upcoming Events.”
